Description

What kind of wine it is

Teruzzi Terre di Tufi Bianco is a dry wine with significant structure, ideal for those following a vegan diet. Considered a true White Supertuscan, it is created from a balanced blend featuring Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Sauvignon and Chardonnay. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of flowers and citrus fruits, enhanced by notes of vanilla and subtle toasted nuances. On the palate, it delivers a full and creamy sip, where softness and liveliness coexist in harmony. The aromatic persistence leads to a delicately spiced finish, for a fresh and characterful drinking experience.

Where it comes from

This white originates from the hills of San Gimignano, in an area of Tuscany historically renowned for wine excellence. The Teruzzi winery manages the vineyards in a setting characterised by significant temperature variations, with hot summers tempered by cool breezes. This microclimate is essential for preserving the aromatic profile of the grapes and giving the wine its typical lively flavour. The combination of local varieties and international grapes defines the identity of this Tuscan wine, capable of expressing in the glass the essence of the land and the beauty of the rural landscape.

How it is produced

Production begins with a gentle pressing of the grapes and subsequent overnight maceration in contact with the skins, a technique aimed at extracting all the varietal richness. After static cold clarification, fermentation takes place at low temperatures, partly in steel and partly in wood. The final structure is shaped during maturation in French oak barrels of first and second passage, where the wine rests for several months. This stage imparts a bright straw-yellow hue and a surprising roundness on the palate, enhancing its complexity.

History and Curiosities

Born in San Gimignano at the historic winery Teruzzi & Puthod, founded in 1974, this oenological masterpiece is universally celebrated as the pioneer of the White Supertuscan. The perfect counterpart to the region's great reds, it masterfully combines native and international varieties under the elegant Toscana IGT designation. The result of the expert vision of oenologists Irene Leonzio and Giuseppe Caviola, this prestigious label encapsulates the essence of 96 hectares of vineyards, offering enthusiasts a taste of authentic and memorable Tuscan history.

Teruzzi is the contemporary enhancement of ancient Tuscan history and its centuries-old tradition. In 1974, Enrico Teruzzi, an engineer by profession but a winemaker by vocation, founded the winery with the help of his wife Carmen in the enchanting setting of San Gimignano. In 2016, Terra Moretti acquired the winery. Today, they continue Teruzzi’s path of innovation and tradition, leading the winery’s viticulture to achieve important goals while respecting sustainability. Read more
