Description
What kind of wine it is
Tenute Orestiadi Paxmentis is a dry white wine that reflects the identity of the Sicilian Lands. This blend skilfully combines Chardonnay with Viognier, offering a clear aromatic profile. On the nose, there are notes of exotic fruit, broom and Sicilian citrus. The palate is fresh and enveloping, supported by a balanced acidity that accompanies and enhances the fruit. Its smoothness and savoury finish make it ideal for pairing with seafood dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes ripen on the hills of the Belìce Valley, in western Sicily, at an altitude between 250 and 450 metres. The vineyards take root in a white calcareous soil, an essential element that ensures freshness and savouriness in the glass. The Sicilian Lands area provides the perfect environment for cultivating Chardonnay and Viognier. The Tenute Orestiadi winery faithfully enhances the unique characteristics of this renowned territory through the care of its vineyards.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-picked in the early hours of the morning to preserve the integrity of the bunches. In the winery, the musts undergo cryo-maceration at a controlled temperature, followed by gentle pressing and decanting. The Chardonnay and Viognier ferment separately in stainless steel before being blended. The wine rests in tank for about a year on the fine lees, enriched by daily bâtonnage which give the wine smoothness and a pleasant texture before bottling.
History and Curiosities
Born among the hills of the Valle del Belìce, Paxmentis by Tenute Orestiadi expresses the authentic richness of the Sicilian territory. This intriguing wine is crafted from Chardonnay and Viognier grapes grown on white limestone soils and hand-harvested at the break of dawn. Under the guidance of oenologist Giuseppe Clementi, the blend achieves profound harmony thanks to 10-12 months of ageing on the noble lees with daily bâtonnage, resulting in a glass that captivates with its enveloping, fresh sip and vibrant savoury drive.
