Description
What kind of wine it is
Molino a Vento Syrah by Tenute Orestiadi is a still red wine that showcases pure Syrah grapes, an authentic expression of the Sicilian lands. In the glass, it displays a very intense violet-red colour, a prelude to a well-defined aromatic profile where violet and blackcurrant aromas stand out, intertwined with hints of liquorice and black pepper. On the palate, it is dry and full-bodied, supported by harmonious tannins that are well integrated into the structure. The finish offers a toasted and spicy sip, enriched by elegant notes of cocoa.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located inland in the province of Trapani, specifically in Gibellina, in the heart of the evocative Valle del Belìce. The rows grow at an altitude between one hundred and one hundred and fifty metres above sea level, favoured by a microclimate ideal for the ripening of Syrah. The subsoil is characterised by a compact black soil, rich in silty-clay components and particularly resistant to drought. These pedoclimatic conditions help to shape an orderly tannic texture and a sip of remarkable concentration.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest carried out towards the end of August, followed by gentle pressing and destemming of the bunches. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve maximum aromatic purity. The wine first rests in stainless steel tanks, then completes its maturation in French oak barrels for a period ranging from two to four months. This careful ageing sculpts the final structure, enhancing a spicy profile and ensuring precise organoleptic integration.
History and Curiosities
The Molino a Vento Syrah originates in Gibellina, in the evocative Belìce Valley, where art and history blend with a deep passion for winemaking. This refined expression from the I Contemporanei range, crafted by Tenute Orestiadi, perfectly embodies the character of Terre Siciliane IGP. The grapes, carefully hand-picked towards the end of August, undergo a delicate vinification at a controlled temperature. Maturation in French oak and steel for 2-4 months shapes its modern profile and enhances the energy of the terroir.
