Description
What kind of wine it is
Tenuta Regaleali Leone d’Almerita by Tasca d’Almerita is a still white wine from the Terre Siciliane denomination. It displays a straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. Its structure is the result of a blend that harmoniously combines Catarratto, Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco and Traminer Aromatico. On the nose, it reveals clear scents of lily of the valley and jasmine, alongside white peach, mandarin and delicate marine notes. On the palate, it is savoury and marked by pronounced freshness, finishing with a characteristic and lightly almondy aftertaste.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located in Sclafani Bagni, in the hilly area of the province of Palermo. The vines grow in a high hill context, at an altitude between 500 and 900 metres above sea level. This specific position ensures a wide temperature range, which is essential for preserving freshness and defining the aromatic complexity of the grapes. The estate’s agricultural management follows organic principles and complies with the SOStain programme guidelines, promoting sustainable viticulture aimed at reducing environmental impact.
How it is produced
The vinification process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for fifteen days. To maintain the gustatory tension and vibrancy of the sensory profile, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. The subsequent ageing phase lasts for four months, also in steel, keeping the wine in contact with the lees to enrich its texture. The final result is a savoury and precise sip, characterised by a balanced total acidity.

The Tasca family is internationally recognized for its pioneering role in modern Sicilian winemaking. Since 2001, Tasca d’Almerita has pursued a project focused on enhancing native grape varieties in the island’s most vocated territories. Alongside Regaleali—the historic estate spanning approximately 500 hectares—new estates have been added: Capofaro on the island of Salina, Tascante on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Whitaker on the island of Mozia, and Sallier de La Tour in the Monreale DOC.
In 2019, Tasca d’Almerita was named "European Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast magazine. In 2021, it became one of only 24 wineries worldwide to be awarded the prestigious "Green Emblem" for sustainability by Robert Parker – Wine Advocate. Since March 2023, already a Benefit Corporation, it has earned the esteemed international B Corp certification, joining a select group of companies committed to the highest standards of social and environmental sustainability. In 2025, Tasca d’Almerita received the "Historic Brand" recognition and was officially registered in the Special Register of Historic Brands of National Interest by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.
