Description
What kind of wine it is
Sirch Sauvignon is a still white wine that embodies the essence of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, specifically from the Colli Orientali del Friuli area. Made from Sauvignon grapes, it displays a straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. Its varietal aromatic profile is distinguished by notes of boxwood and tomato leaf, enriched with hints of lime and grapefruit. On the palate, it is broad, with a balanced savouriness and a vibrant freshness in perfect harmony with the olfactory sensations.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, which impart a pronounced territorial character and aromatic clarity. Sauvignon, introduced to the area at the end of the nineteenth century, has found its ideal habitat in this region. Sirch, whose roots date back to the mid-1950s, cultivates the vineyards using the Guyot system, an agronomic choice aimed at enhancing the quality of the grape variety.
How it is produced
The grapes, harvested at phenolic ripeness, are destemmed and subjected to gentle pressing. The clarified must begins fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. The wine rests for several months on the lees in the same tanks, gaining texture thanks to periodic stirring. This careful ageing on the lees enhances its structure, completing the balance of flavours before release to the market.
History and Curiosities
Introduced during the Habsburg era at the end of the nineteenth century, Sauvignon is now a symbol of the tradition of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. As early as 1891, cultivated on the typical sandstone-marl soils, it stood out among the local whites for the elegant finesse of its aromas and flavours. In this excellent setting operates the Sirch company, whose roots date back to the mid-1950s. Under the expert guidance of Luca Sirch and thanks to careful Guyot training, the winery enhances the characteristics of the grape variety, creating a harmonious wine, refined and with unmistakable charm.
