Description
What kind of wine it is
Phigaia After the Red is a Venetian red blend by Serafini e Vidotto, an expression of the Montello and Colli Asolani area that combines Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. The aromatic profile reveals notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, medicinal herbs and roasted pepper, enriched by hints of coffee, vanilla and pink pepper. On the palate, it offers a fresh and fruity attack, supported by a savoury texture and rounded tannins. The tasting experience culminates in a long, spicy finish with clear hints of liquorice.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Nervesa della Battaglia, in the province of Treviso. The vines grow on ferretto soils, a geological matrix that gives the sip a distinctly savoury character. The training follows the Guyot system, ensuring the ideal balance between fruity and spicy components. These environmental conditions are essential to guarantee the complete ripening of the grapes and to give the wine its characteristic balanced tannins.
How it is produced
The harvest follows the ripening times of each variety: late September for Merlot and late October for Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is followed by a rest of 13-18 months in second-passage oak barrels. This ageing enriches the bouquet with toasted notes, preserving the expressiveness of the fruit for a harmonious sip. At the table, it pairs perfectly with structured dishes such as braised beef cheek, rosemary lamb cutlets and medium-aged cheeses.
History and Curiosities
Produced in the heart of Veneto, Phigaia After the Red 2022 is a multi-award-winning expression of the Montello e Colli Asolani DOC. The result of the expertise of Serafini & Vidotto, this superb red is aged for up to 18 months in oak barrels, developing an enveloping complexity that ranges from notes of morello cherry to refined hints of vanilla. Perfect for enhancing rich dishes such as braised beef cheek, it caresses the palate with rounded tannins and a persistent liquorice finish, offering a tasting experience of extraordinary elegance.

A future laid down by the beginnings, guaranteed by the presence of a new generation. Starting with Matteo Serafini, who grew up here, among the vineyards and the cellar and trained as oenologist with experiences abroad and in the schools of Conegliano and San Michele all’Adige. In short, ideal conditions to say that we are on solid ground, while our wines are in excellent oak barrels.
Seeing that we are called Serafini & Vidotto, one might say that we have always been a group. Today that group has grown (in more ways than one), with a natural balance and understanding. Starting with Massimo and Kati, followed by the others. Those who have joined our family have found their place and, thanks to the place and to the atmosphere that has been created, no-one has left over the years. A sign that we share the same passion and tenacity. Because, although it is wonderful to live among nature, to enjoy a marvellous view day after day, the true value of our wine lies in the work of people.
Everyone produces quality. We are also committed to living with it. We have always believed that the project was about our lives. First and foremost, we had to do what we liked doing, without compromise. This is the same idea that we can find today in every Serafini & Vidotto wine. The ambition to satisfy our idea of quality. For ourselves, for the product, for all those who can rejoice in the results of our constant care. Read more
