Description
What type of wine it is
The Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Vecchie Viti Brut by Ruggeri is a sparkling wine that embodies the essence of the Venetian hills. Produced using the Charmat Method from a blend of Glera, Verdiso, Bianchetta, and Perera, this Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore stands out for its structured and harmonious profile. In the glass, it reveals a fine and persistent perlage, introducing a sip that combines vibrant freshness with an elegant softness. Its complexity is supported by a solid acidity, capable of accompanying the tasting towards a savoury and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is born among the hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, in the heart of the famous denomination. The grapes are harvested from selected single vines, located in areas of excellence such as San Pietro, Santo Stefano, Cartizze, and Guia. The uniqueness of this label stems from the use of historic plants, with vines boasting between eighty and one hundred years of age. These long-lived vineyards give the wine an extraordinary aromatic depth. The contribution of the different plots creates an enveloping sip, capable of enhancing a velvety texture and the typical minerality of the territory.
How it is produced
The vinification is carried out 'in bianco' (off skins) at a controlled temperature, so as to preserve the delicate notes of apple, gooseberry, and acacia flowers. The second fermentation takes place slowly in spring following the Charmat Method, inside large closed vats that favour a fine 'prise de mousse'. The wine ages on the lees for about three months, becoming enriched in complexity and structure. Thanks to the balanced dosage of the Brut style, the sparkling wine maintains a full and complex structure. This technical precision provides an intense bouquet, perfect for accompanying appetizers and fish-based dishes.
History and trivia
This prestigious Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut by Ruggeri comes from selected vines almost a hundred years old, paying a profound tribute to the viticultural heritage of the region. Thanks to the slow secondary fermentation and three months of ageing on the lees, this vintage expresses an extraordinary aromatic complexity, awarded the Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso. An elegant glass that transforms the legacy of historic vines into a memorable tasting experience.

Ruggeri’s roots stretch far back to the nineteenth century, to Eliseo Bisol, who, along with his son Luigi was one of the first winemakers in Valdobbiadene. The business’s significant growth began in 1950 when Giustino Bisol founded the current winery with his cousin, and it was his surname, Ruggeri, that was chosen as the company name. The unswerving commitment to excellence continued with the work of Giustino’s son, Paolo, and granddaughter Isabella.
Since 2017, Ruggeri has been part of the Rotkäppchen-Mumm Group, a highly fruitful partnership which has paired our shared visions, trust in common values and a mutual commitment to ever higher quality standards. Read more
