Description
What kind of wine it is
Rocche Costamagna Dolcetto d’Alba is a still red wine from Piedmont that clearly expresses the soul of the Dolcetto grape variety. Produced in the Dolcetto d’Alba area, it appears in the glass with an intense ruby red colour, enhanced by violet highlights. On the nose, it offers distinct fruity aromas, dominated by pronounced notes of morello cherry. On the palate, it reveals a broad and direct style, offering a smooth sip that finishes with a typical and delicate almond aftertaste.
Where it comes from
This red wine originates from small vineyards located in the municipality of La Morra, in the heart of the renowned Langhe region. Rocche Costamagna cultivates its vines on calcareous and clay soils, which give the wine a structured and clean flavour profile. Careful vineyard management ensures a well-tended harvest, resulting in an authentic territorial expression that fully enhances the typical character of the area.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with a skin maceration of four or five days at a controlled temperature. To preserve the varietal aromas, the wine matures through a six-month ageing in steel and rests for a further two months in the bottle. This process, overseen by oenologist Alessandro Locatelli, ensures a gentle palate supported by a well-balanced acidity, which enhances the vibrancy of the fruit, making each sip persistent and harmonious.
History and Curiosities
The result of six generations of passion in La Morra, the Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2024 from the Rocche Costamagna winery perfectly combines tradition and sustainability. From estate-owned vineyards comes an intense ruby red wine, where careful vinification enhances the aromas of morello cherry. Thanks to meticulous maturation in steel and in the bottle, the wine offers a broad and smooth sip, characterised by a typical almondy aftertaste that enriches the tasting experience.
