Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata Bricco Francesco Riserva by Rocche Costamagna is a still red wine with a structured profile. Produced in Piedmont exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, it displays a ruby red colour enriched with elegant garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals a broad and well-defined bouquet, with plum aromas, violet and rose, accompanied by subtle spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, it expresses a great structure, harmonised by elegant and smooth tannins, leading to a fresh and remarkably persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the municipality of La Morra, in the heart of the renowned Rocche dell’Annunziata cru, a vineyard tended by the Rocche Costamagna family for over two centuries. The soils are characterised by a calcareous-clay composition, essential for imparting depth and character to the grapes. The vines have an average age of thirty-five years and are cultivated with a planting density that naturally limits yields. The harvest, carried out at the beginning of October, allows the bunches to be picked at perfect ripeness for this Barolo with Riserva designation.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with a maceration on the skins lasting about three weeks, conducted at a controlled temperature of twenty-six degrees. After extraction, the wine matures for thirty-six months in Slavonian oak barrels. This is followed by a meticulous bottle ageing of two years, a crucial period for integrating the tannic structure and fully enhancing the aromatic complexity before release to the market.
