Description
What kind of wine it is
Ramos Pinto Porto Ruby is a sweet fortified wine, a true expression of the Porto denomination. Made from Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional grapes, it displays an intense and deep ruby red colour. The bouquet is dominated by primary aromas of cherry, raspberry, blackberry and plum, enhanced by a subtle hint of cinnamon. On the palate, it offers a lively and fruity attack, a full-bodied texture and a long, compact finish. It pairs excellently with cheese, chocolate desserts or red fruit sorbets, and also stands out as a refreshing aperitif.
Where it comes from
This fortified wine originates from the Douro Valley in Portugal, the prime region for the Porto denomination. The grapes benefit from an ideal environment for ripening, ensuring a natural concentration of aromas. The producer, Ramos Pinto, oversees the ageing process in the historic Vila Nova de Gaia, preserving the fruit's identity. The geographical origin guarantees the wine an immediate freshness and a well-defined structure. The terroir is evident with a distinct aromatic vigour, designed to maintain the vibrancy of the colour and the clarity of the taste.
How it is produced
The wine is created from a careful blend of young wines, crafted to stabilise the colour and preserve the intensity of the fruity aromas. The process continues with around three years of ageing in barrels, essential for harmonising the structure without diminishing its original vigour. The result is a full and compact sip. To best appreciate its qualities, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, perhaps alongside a duck salad or a fine cigar. It is advisable to always store it upright, in a cool place away from light.

The Ramos Pinto wines have therefore become a reference of quality.
From the very onset was born a unique collection of art objects, which are displayed today in the recently opened Museum Area - Casa Ramos Pinto.
The taste for culture instilled by Adriano Ramos Pinto in the working philosophy of Casa Ramos Pinto, is still alive today. In 1997, Casa Ramos Pinto created the Ervamoira On-Site Museum, aimed at environmental, oenological, archaeological and anthropological research of the Vale do Côa. Researchers also have at their disposal the Historical Archives in Vila Nova de Gaia, with a precious collection of documents on the production and export of wines from the late 19th century.
Aware that the quality of its wines were confined to the earth of the wine producing Douro, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied this Demarcated Region, and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics. The objective was to ensure the control and quality of the whole production process. By perfecting its wines, Ramos Pinto created unique nectars with its own signature.
In 1990, Casa Ramos Pinto became part of the Roederer Group, whose history has identical characteristics. So, the qualities that gave fame to Casa Ramos Pinto took on an international dimension. Read more
