Description
What kind of wine it is
The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from Primosic is a still red wine originating from the expressive territory of Venezia Giulia. Made from Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes, it stands out for its fragrant and elegant character that defines its style. Tasting reveals a smooth structure, supported by light tannins and a pleasant savoury finish that ensures excellent persistence. Thanks to its organoleptic qualities, this Friulian red pairs perfectly with red meats, game dishes, mature cheeses or strongly flavoured dishes.
Where it comes from
The vineyards of the Primosic winery are located in Oslavia, in the province of Gorizia, within Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vines are cultivated using the Guyot system on a gravelly-limestone soil, rich in pebbles, clay and flint. This particular soil composition gives the wine a clear and precise aromatic profile, reflected in a ruby red colour with violet hues. The terroir imparts intense aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry to the glass, enriched by delicate floral notes that precede a tasting experience of remarkable gustatory balance.
How it is produced
The vinification process focuses on preserving the maximum aromatic integrity of the grapes. For this reason, the process involves a short contact with the skins, an essential technique for extracting colour and primary aromas without weighing down the palate. Fermentation and the subsequent maturation period take place entirely in cement tanks, deliberately avoiding the use of wood. This technical choice enhances the pure expression of the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grape variety, resulting in a wine with pronounced fragrance and capable of interesting evolution over time.
History and Curiosities
Born in Oslavia, in the heart of Friuli, the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso by Marko Primosic celebrates a winemaking tradition that began in 1956. This IGT Venezia Giulia 2021 matures exclusively in cement vats, avoiding the use of wood to preserve the purity and fragrance of its aromatic profile. Awarded 4 Bibenda bunches and 90 points by James Suckling, this excellent red promises to evolve over a decade, offering a structured, elegant sip that remains true to its place of origin.

Primosic's attitude is to always push the quality limits necessary to carry out a project based on zones to ascertain the characteristics of the terroir and to find the perfect match for the vines. A philosophy of life in which Primosic strives to determine its expression of wine with the characteristic balance between vine and terroir.
Today Sylvester Primosic is supported by his two sons, Boris as CFO and cellar coordinator, while Marko, managing director, oversees the export and marketing aspects. Read more
