Description
What kind of wine it is
Pierre Legras Black Jackets Blanc de Noirs Brut is the Champagne Traditional Method that best expresses the intensity of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. This Blanc de Noirs, the result of a meticulous blend, displays a pale gold colour and a complex bouquet, where aromas of rose and orange blossom blend with apricot, fig and honey, giving way to notes of wild berries and liquorice. On the palate, it is dry, rich and fresh. The lively and persistent perlage enhances the creamy texture of the sip, accompanying citrus notes and hints of brioche and toasted dried fruit in a long and satisfying finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the Côte des Blancs, in the commune of Chouilly. Pierre Legras has been operating in these lands since 1662, passing down its winemaking expertise through eleven generations. Although located in an area historically renowned for white grapes, the winery skilfully enhances dark-skinned varieties. The grapes come from thirty-year-old vineyards, whose deep roots ensure a distinct savoury character. Meticulous agronomic care yields excellent fruit, capable of conveying the authentic Champagne terroir in a perfect balance between tension and lively freshness.
How it is produced
Production strictly follows the Traditional Method, with the prise de mousse and second fermentation in the bottle. The cuvée undergoes a slow ageing of about three and a half years in contact with the lees, thus developing an enveloping creaminess and delicate toasted notes. The measured dosage, characteristic of the Brut style, keeps the sip dry and balances the natural freshness with a well-structured body. This elegant glass is ideal paired with mature cheeses, refined shellfish dishes or meats such as duck breast.
History and Curiosities
The historic Pierre Legras maison, founded in Chouilly in 1662 and now in its eleventh generation, presents a bold and rebellious cuvée. The Black Jackets Millésime Brut breaks with the Chardonnay tradition to highlight the strong character of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. This rare limited edition Blanc de Noirs, produced in only 2,550 bottles, boasts a rock-inspired aesthetic featuring the iconic skull. An unconventional oenological experience, designed to convey a sense of freedom through a classic method with an irresistible personality.

The birth of Pierre Legras marked the beginning of a great line of winemakers. Eleven generations have followed each other for nearly four hundred years: Pierre, Pierre the 2nd, Jean-Baptiste the 3rd, Honoré the 4th, Jean-Baptiste the 5th, Simon-Auguste the 6th, Théodore-André the 7th, Elie-Edmond the 8th, Lucien the 9th, Philippe the 10th, and Vincent the 11th.
After training at the Avize Wine School and graduating with a National Diploma in Oenology, Vincent, in 2002, created the Champagne name of Pierre Legras, a tribute to his distant ancestor. Assisted by his father, he developed the business over the years. The domaine grew from 5 to more than 10 hectares. He invested little by little: in a press, in vats, in vines … these many commitments a necessity to offer wines that lived up to his ambitions.
In 2011, Marcelline joined him. Together, they developed the name internationally. Today, the inimitable style of Pierre Legras wines goes beyond borders. Read more
