Description
What kind of wine it is
Le Volte dell’Ornellaia is a Tuscan red wine characterised by an intense cherry red colour, created from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. On the nose, it releases aromas of blackberry, menthol and sweet spices. On the palate, it stands out for its clear and dense structure, able to combine freshness with juicy fruit. Each sip offers silky and velvety tannins and a persistent finish, making it ideal for pairing with grilled red meat dishes.
Where it comes from
It originates in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, among the renowned vineyards of Ornellaia. The distinctive Mediterranean climate encourages perfect ripening of the grapes, while ensuring an elegant freshness. The vines sink their roots into soils composed of limestone, sand and pebbles. This specific geological matrix gives the wine a clear fruity expression and aromatic depth that reflects the authentic essence and structural precision of its place of origin.
How it is produced
The production process begins with the manual harvesting of bunches at perfect ripeness. To preserve the identity of each variety, separate vinification is carried out in small stainless steel containers, where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place. Afterwards, the wine matures for ten months in used barrels and steel vats. This stage skilfully balances the contribution of the wood with the intensity of the fruit, resulting in soft tannins and a sip of great harmony.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1991, Le Volte dell’Ornellaia 2024 represents the most immediate expression of the renowned Bolgheri estate. Created to reflect the elegance that distinguishes the company’s philosophy, this Toscana IGT cuvée is the result of the expertise of oenologist Axel Heinz. After careful separate vinification of the grape varieties, the wine matures for 10 months in used barriques and steel vats. This skilful ageing ensures an impeccable balance between silky tannins and the freshness of the fruit, offering an enveloping sip even in its youth.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981, in a beautiful, unspoiled part of Tuscany. From the outset, the mission was to produce outstanding wines. Since then passion and dedication, coupled with a unique terroir and an extraordinary microclimate, have brought the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's prestigious labels great success and recognition as one of the most important wineries in the world.
Vision
A little more than 20 years ago, a revelation: the future of Italian viticulture had to take a new enological path, in search of absolute quality. To achieve this goal, the proper place, proper time, and best people were needed. This led to the idea of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, a place of infinite potential, cultivated with wisdom and experience by its "artists," who seek, with every vintage, a new masterpiece.
Philosophy
Production limited to the course of the year, harvesting by hand only after full ripeness, individual vinification for each vineyard, respect for a unique and precious terroir. These are just some of the choices made by Ornellaia, in a philosophy that has privileged quality from the very beginning. Thanks to women and men who put their arms, soul, head and heart into their work, all year round. And the results can be seen, but above all tasted... Read more
