Description
What kind of wine it is
Oddero Langhe Riesling is a still white wine with a semi-aromatic character, a faithful expression of the Riesling Renano grape variety cultivated in Piedmont. Set within the Langhe region, this wine reveals a soft yet vibrant structure, supported by a pronounced mineral and savoury component. The bouquet is broad and vertical, offering aromas of fresh citrus, hints of tropical fruit, and the classic petrol nuances typical of the variety. On the palate, the fruit is ripe yet lively, delivering a balanced taste that naturally enhances starters, vegetable risottos, and cheese selections.
Where it comes from
This white wine is produced in La Morra, specifically in the San Biagio area, among the hills of the Langhe. The vineyard, which covers a single hectare, benefits from a strategic north-west exposure, a key factor in giving the wine its characteristic tension and linearity. While in the past the grapes were blended with Chardonnay grown in neighbouring plots, today Oddero has chosen to showcase pure Riesling Renano. This evolution in production aims to highlight the grape's authentic local vocation.
How it is produced
Harvesting usually takes place in the first week of September. The process begins with the cooling of whole bunches for twelve hours, followed by destemming and gentle pressing. The must undergoes static cold settling before alcoholic fermentation. To develop greater tactile complexity, the wine matures through a six-month period on fine lees. Before release, this limited production completes its evolution with a careful two-year bottle ageing. These processes ensure the wine offers maximum aromatic clarity in the glass.
History and Curiosities
Born from the renowned terroir of San Biagio in La Morra, this wine combines the historic tradition of the Oddero winery with meticulous oenological care. The vines, planted in 2006 with a north-west exposure, have produced an excellent pure Riesling since 2016. The production process includes cooling the grape bunches, six months resting on fine lees, and a careful two-year bottle ageing, preserved by an innovative screw cap. This exclusive limited production of only 4,000 bottles a year offers the palate an authentic and rare expression of the Langhe.

The history of today’s winery is inextricably tied to that of Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926 and grandson of the first Giacomo in the family (whom he was named after). Under Giacomo’s guidance, Poderi e Cantine Oddero took on its current productive configuration, extending vineyard property, increasing bottle production, and upholding a high quality that today is recognized worldwide.
The legacy of Giacomo Oddero is carried on today by his daughter Mariacristina, who entered the family business near the end of the 1990s, and grandchildren Isabella and Pietro, who represent the seventh generation of a family with over a century and a half of vinicultural tradition behind them.
