Description
What kind of wine is it
Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial is a demi-sec Champagne with a golden colour and bright amber highlights. Created from a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, it is produced using the Traditional Method. The bouquet releases clear notes of mango and guava, combined with nectarine and raspberry. On the palate, the smoothness of caramel and quince meets a lively citrus acidity of grapefruit and ginger, offering an enveloping and dynamic sip.
Where does it come from
This wine originates in France, in the Champagne region, crafted by Moët & Chandon. Drawing on its vast vineyard heritage, the winery creates a harmonious and structured blend. The terroir imparts this French wine with solid depth, capable of supporting the richness of tropical aromas over time. This ensures an interesting ageing potential, estimated between five and ten years.
How is it produced
Production follows the rigorous steps of bottle refermentation typical of the Traditional Method, completed by a precise demi-sec dosage. This cuvée stands out for being specifically designed for tasting with ice between 6 and 8°C, perfectly balancing freshness and fruity aromas. Versatile at the table, it pairs excellently with cheeses and starters, but also naturally complements refined fish dishes, particularly enhancing the delicate flavour of shellfish.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1743, the renowned Moët & Chandon house presents the innovative Ice Impérial, a modern interpretation of Champagne AOC. The true uniqueness of this exceptional traditional method lies in its revolutionary nature: it is, in fact, the first champagne in the world created specifically to be served over ice. A non-vintage demi-sec that combines the expertise of an estate of around one thousand hectares with the pleasure of a refreshing tasting experience between 6 and 8°C, encapsulating all the mastery of a historic brand in a 0.75 l bottle.

Moët began business with Madame de Pompadour in 1750 who continually supplied the Royal Court at Compiègne with Moët's champagne. Also in 1750, Moët began establishing business in Germany, Spain, Eastern Europe, and colonial British America. In 1792, on Claude Moët's death, grandson Jean-Rémy Moët took control of Moët et Cie, and expanded the business buying the vineyards of the Abbey of Hautvillers, where Benedictine monk Dom Perignon perfected double-fermentation for creating champagne.
