Description
What kind of wine it is
Moët & Chandon's Extra Brut Champagne is a sparkling wine created from a meticulous blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Its Extra Brut profile boasts a soft and creamy texture, enhanced by a fine perlage. On the nose, notes of toasted bread and hazelnut emerge, combined with hints of gingerbread and marzipan, which fade into nuances of orange blossom, quince and anise. This sensory picture culminates in a citrusy finish with great persistence.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the heart of Champagne, in north-eastern France. Produced by Moët & Chandon in the town of Épernay, each sip captures the essence of a region renowned for long bottle ageing. The deep connection with the winery's historic headquarters is reflected in the glass, imparting a distinct gustatory tension and pronounced freshness. This clear imprint of the French terroir ensures a solid and well-defined aromatic structure.
How it is produced
The cuvée is crafted strictly following the Traditional Method, a fundamental step to enhance its depth and elegance. After the prise de mousse, the wine undergoes a meticulous cellar ageing of six years, enriching it with complex and evolved nuances. Following disgorgement, it rests for a further six months to harmonise all its components with precision. With a dosage of 5 g/l, this prolonged maturation guarantees a crisp, fragrant and perfectly balanced sip.

Moët began business with Madame de Pompadour in 1750 who continually supplied the Royal Court at Compiègne with Moët's champagne. Also in 1750, Moët began establishing business in Germany, Spain, Eastern Europe, and colonial British America. In 1792, on Claude Moët's death, grandson Jean-Rémy Moët took control of Moët et Cie, and expanded the business buying the vineyards of the Abbey of Hautvillers, where Benedictine monk Dom Perignon perfected double-fermentation for creating champagne.
