Description
What kind of wine it is
Taurasi Stilema Riserva by Mastroberardino is an austere and profound red wine from Campania, made from Aglianico grapes. It stands out for its remarkable ageing potential combined with an agile and smooth drinkability. On the nose, it reveals fruity and floral notes, enriched by spicy nuances of tobacco, vanilla and leather. On the palate, it is fresh and complex, supported by a silky tannin that ensures perfect structural balance. The pronounced gustatory tension makes it ideal for pairing with first courses featuring porcini mushrooms, game-based dishes and mature cheeses, confirming its excellent gastronomic versatility.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from four family estates located within the Taurasi area in Campania. The vineyards are spread across Pietradefusi, Montemarano, Paternopoli and Mirabella Eclano, at altitudes ranging from 350 to 600 metres above sea level, optimal conditions for the slow and gradual ripening of the bunches. The soils are heterogeneous, alternating between clay and limestone soils and medium-textured matrices enriched with sandy sandstones and silt. This varied pedoclimatic mosaic gives the Aglianico a pronounced aromatic intensity and a distinct savoury freshness, enhancing the pure expression of the terroir.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous manual harvest between the end of October and the beginning of November, selecting grapes from low-yield vineyards. In the winery, the must undergoes a short maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature, an essential technique for achieving moderate and precise phenolic extraction. The wine then matures for about two years in Slavonian oak casks and in French oak barriques that are not first use, acquiring structure without excessive wood influence. A subsequent and prolonged bottle ageing of at least thirty months harmonises the texture and defines the stylistic rigour of the final sip.
