Description
What kind of wine it is
Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo is a still red wine that expresses the authentic identity of the Nebbiolo grape variety. In the glass, it displays a garnet red colour, with intensity that varies depending on the season. On the nose, it offers a delicate and pleasant bouquet, characterised by notes of raspberry and violet. Over time, its profile evolves, developing secondary aromas reminiscent of Barolo. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegant; although less structured than long-aged reds, it delivers a complete sip, distinguished by a pleasant overall harmony and an extremely satisfying drinkability.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from historic plots located in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe denomination, in Piedmont. The vines grow at around three hundred and forty metres above sea level, sinking their roots into calcareous soils that give the wine a defined style and a clear territorial expression. The vineyards are trained using the traditional Guyot system, with a density of five thousand five hundred vines per hectare. The yield is limited to sixty-five quintals, an essential parameter for obtaining fruit capable of ensuring the wine’s perfect intensity and smoothness.
How it is produced
The production process begins with manual harvesting, followed by classic vinification. The must undergoes skin maceration for eight to ten days, a technique inspired by the great reds of the region. Afterwards, the wine matures in traditional barrels for over a year, achieving a graceful evolution and excellent tannin integration. Served between fourteen and sixteen degrees, preferably after an hour of decanting, this red expresses its utmost elegance. At the table, it pairs beautifully with pasta dishes with ragù, grilled red meats, and a selection of soft or slightly blue cheeses.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
