Description
What kind of wine is it
The Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Iskra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva is a red wine that rigorously interprets the Montepulciano grape variety. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby red colour with dense violet highlights. The bouquet intertwines macerated roses and lavender with notes of black cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, enriched by nuances of cocoa, liquorice root and balsamic hints of bay leaf. On the palate, it combines a dense and vigorous structure with well-defined freshness and velvety tannins, finishing with a long aftertaste recalling spiced fruits and touches of graphite.
Where does it come from
This red originates from a single vineyard located in Controguerra, in the Colline Teramane area of Abruzzo. The vines grow at an altitude of around two hundred and fifty metres, benefiting from the combined influences of the Gran Sasso massif and the Adriatic coast. This unique ecosystem promotes optimal ripening of the grapes, imparting strength and elegance. The Masciarelli winery thus enhances the soul of the Colline Teramane, creating an expression rooted in its place of origin and endowed with a high ageing potential.
How is it produced
The harvest follows the ripening times of the Montepulciano grape, with picking taking place in the second half of October. Vinification involves alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel tanks, using prolonged maceration to maximise aromatic extraction. The wine is then aged for between twelve and eighteen months in first-passage French oak barrels, essential for integrating gentle sweet spices. A final two-year glass maturation shapes the palate, making it harmonious and persistent.

In the constant and renewed work for innovation, but with respect for the environment and tradition, Masciarelli inaugurated, after a long restoration, Castello di Semivicoli, a seventeenth-century baronial mansion, which is now a Relais de Charme in the vineyards, a driving force of wine tourism in the area.
