Description

What kind of wine it is

Marina Cvetic Trebbiano Riserva by Masciarelli is a still white wine of remarkable structure. Produced from Trebbiano Toscano grapes, it displays an intense golden colour and significant body. The bouquet is characterised by an elegant boisé touch, followed by notes of broom, sweet citrus, winter melon, fresh hazelnut and white pepper. On the palate, it is full and fresh, with a creamy and perfectly balanced texture, finishing with persistent mineral and iodised accents.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in the heart of the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Riserva area, in the vineyards of San Martino sulla Marrucina. The rows cover the Teatine hills at the foot of the Maiella and the Bucchianico area, known for its distinctive badlands. The unique geology of these soils defines the character of the wine, bringing a savoury structure to the glass that gives volume and depth, while always maintaining a balanced sip.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place in the second half of October from vines trained in the Abruzzo pergola style. The must ferments in wood for a period ranging from fifteen to thirty days, encouraging a solid integration of aromas. The wine then matures for twelve months in oak barrels, enriching its aromatic profile without masking the expression of the grape variety, and completes its journey with a year of bottle ageing to achieve perfect harmony.

History and Curiosities

Founded in Abruzzo in 1981, the Masciarelli winery produces wines with a distinctive character. From the deep bond between Gianni and Marina, the prestigious Marina Cvetic line was born in 1991, created to satisfy the most discerning palates. This collection masterfully combines international varieties with great local classics, offering elegant and unconventional interpretations. The Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva 2023 perfectly embodies this production vision: a qualitative triumph crowned by the highest accolade of the 3 Glasses from Gambero Rosso.

Masciarelli Tenute Agricole was established in 1981 from the entrepreneurial intuition of Gianni Masciarelli, a symbol of Italian wine and protagonist of the success of modern wine production in Abruzzo. The beating heart of the winery is in San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti, and includes vineyards and olive groves, in all 4 provinces of Abruzzo.

Wine production – while also having a small production of extra virgin olive oil – now has 22 labels and seven product lines: Classic Line, Gianni Masciarelli, Villa Gemma, Marina Cvetic and Castello di Semivicoli. Villa Gemma, Iskra, Marina Cvetic, Castello di Semivicoli, Gianni Masciarelli, Linea Classica e La Botte di Gianni.

In the constant and renewed work for innovation, but with respect for the environment and tradition, Masciarelli inaugurated, after a long restoration, Castello di Semivicoli, a seventeenth-century baronial mansion, which is now a Relais de Charme in the vineyards, a driving force of wine tourism in the area.
