Description
What kind of wine it is
Marengo Barbera d’Alba Vigna Pugnane is a red wine with a vivid ruby colour, capable of expressing the authentic character of its region. On the nose, it offers an intriguing bouquet, dominated by ripe red fruit, aromatic herbs and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, it is smooth and savoury, supported by a lively, crisp acidity that balances its structured texture. The long, fragrant finish makes it ideal for pairing with the flavourful dishes of Piedmontese tradition, roast meats and cheeses.
Where it comes from
This expression of Barbera d’Alba originates from a prime area, from vineyards cultivated on the best hillside positions in Castagnole Monferrato. The Marengo winery’s winemaking project has its roots in 1899, always seeking a privileged exposure for the rows. This approach encourages an optimal concentration of the grape clusters, resulting in a glass with remarkable aromatic depth, designed to evolve over time and ensure longevity of up to ten years.
How it is produced
The Barbera grapes are carefully selected to preserve the original intensity and freshness of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine rests in barrels for nineteen months, an essential step that enhances its aromatic complexity while maintaining precision and balance. To best appreciate its nuances, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving, at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees.
