Description
What kind of wine it is
Barbaresco Tradizione by Marchesi di Barolo is a still red wine with controlled and guaranteed designation of origin, produced in Piedmont from Nebbiolo grapes. This wine stands out for its full, structured and harmonious style, characterised by enveloping tannins and an intense aromatic profile. Its complexity is enhanced by fermentation at a controlled temperature and careful ageing in Slavonian oak barrels. At the table, it expresses its best qualities when paired with structured meat dishes, fresh pasta with ragù and medium-aged cheeses.
Where it comes from
This red comes to life on the Piedmontese hills of Barbaresco, among the moderately steep slopes of Neive, Barbaresco and Treiso. In these areas, the vines sink their roots into clay and limestone soils, characterised by quartz sand and fine silt of marine origin. This particular composition ensures a rich presence of trace elements, fundamental for promoting a complex and immediate aromatic expression. The care of the vineyards is entrusted to Marchesi di Barolo, a historic winery that has been enhancing the peculiarities of this renowned territory since the early nineteenth century.
How it is produced
The production process begins with careful selection and manual harvesting of the bunches, which are delicately destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in cement or steel tanks, accompanied by frequent pumping over and maceration on the skins for about fifteen days. After the sugars have been transformed, the wine is transferred to thermo-insulated vitrified cement vats for malolactic fermentation. Ageing continues in Slavonian oak barrels for at least nine months, followed by a final rest of at least one year to achieve perfect taste balance.
