Description
What kind of wine it is
The Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato Terreferme by Lunae is a still white wine that faithfully embodies the essence of Pigato. On the nose, it reveals a broad and harmonious bouquet, where aromas of fruit tree blossoms and woodland notes meet, enriched by hints of yellow-fleshed fruit. On the palate, it opens with freshness, dominated by yellow apple flavours that evolve into delicate almond sensations. The sip stands out for its pronounced savouriness, finishing with a balanced and persistent aftertaste. It is ideal for pairing with fish dishes, shellfish, and fresh cheeses, perfectly enhancing Ligurian cuisine recipes.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Colli di Luni area, south of the Magra river, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. The vineyards stretch between Castelnuovo Magra and Ortonovo, with roots sinking into clay soils and stony subsoil. The particular composition of the land plays a decisive role in the final savouriness of the wine. Viticulture in this area boasts ancient roots dating back to Etruscan times, reflecting the deep identity of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente denomination. The coastal climate shapes a clear aromatic profile, giving the glass a straw yellow colour enlivened by greenish highlights.
How it is produced
Vinification involves temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This technical choice is essential to preserve the varietal aromas, enhancing the natural floral and fruity notes of the grape. The wine then undergoes a brief maturation in steel in the same containers before being released to the market. The absence of wood ageing allows for a linear structure and great expressive clarity. This production method ensures excellent taste balance, capable of highlighting the freshness of the fruit and the mineral component imparted by the terroir.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".
These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
