Description

What kind of wine it is

The Colli di Luni Vermentino Etichetta Nera from Lunae Bosoni is a still white wine with controlled designation of origin, produced in Liguria and characterised by its vibrant coastal character. Made exclusively from Vermentino grapes and vinified in steel, it reveals on the nose notes of ripe yellow fruit, such as apricot and peach, enriched by hints of acacia flowers and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it offers a vertical freshness and pronounced savouriness, balanced by a broad and harmonious body. The sip finishes with a long and persistent finish with a pleasant almond note, pairing perfectly with shellfish, fried fish, sushi and cheeses.

Where it comes from

This Vermentino originates in the Colli di Luni, located in eastern Liguria among the vineyards of Castelnuovo Magra and Ortonovo. The terroir is distinguished by the alternation between sandy and alluvial soils in the valley floor and leaner, drier soils on the hillsides. This variety of soil types gives the wine a precise aromatic definition and a pronounced savouriness. The Lunae Bosoni winery rigorously selects the most suitable plots to enhance the identity of the territory.

How it is produced

The vinification process begins in mid-September with a manual harvest carried out in the early hours of the morning to preserve the integrity of the bunches. After a brief cold maceration on the skins, essential for extracting aromas, the must ferments at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The wine continues its journey with ageing on fine lees, also in steel, for about four months. This period of rest gives the wine greater gustatory breadth and structure, while maintaining the technical purity and natural liveliness typical of Vermentino.

History and Curiosities

The name Lvnae recalls the ancient Roman winemaking tradition, from which the Lunae Bosoni winery draws its deep passion for viticulture. In the far eastern part of Liguria, the evocative terraces of the Colli di Luni offer extraordinary richness, alternating sandy and alluvial valleys with lean, dry hills that enhance the identity of the region. Produced since 1992, the Vermentino Etichetta Nera embodies the Bosoni family's dedication to the pursuit of excellence, combining a constant respect for nature with meticulous care of the vine.

The lands of Ortonovo and Castelnuovo Magra, little villages on the border between Tuscany and Liguria, lie on the hills facing the Mediterranean Sea and protected by the marble peaks of the Apuam Alps. Here rises Luni, the ancient Roman city so shiny and rich of marbles that the Barbarians, descending from the Alps, took for Rome by mistake.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".

These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
