Description
What kind of wine it is
Lis Neris Friuli Isonzo Chardonnay Jurosa is a still white wine produced in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. A benchmark expression of Chardonnay, it appears in the glass with a straw yellow hue and golden highlights. The bouquet is rich and enveloping, with notes of exotic fruit, ginger, chamomile and green tea. On the palate, it reveals a full and elegant body, characterised by intense tropical notes and soft hints of vanilla. Its character ensures a profound complexity of flavour, making it ideal to pair with tasty seafood main courses, white meats and selected cheeses.
Where it comes from
The Lis Neris vineyards grow in the Friuli Isonzo area, specifically in San Lorenzo Isontino. The vines sink their roots into a gravelly limestone plateau at sixty metres above sea level, nestled between the Isonzo river and the Slovenian border. The strong stony presence in the soil imparts a clear and solid structural imprint to the wine. The climate encourages a slow ripening of the Chardonnay grapes, resulting in a firm balance between the vigour of the flavour and the intensity of the aromas. This precise synergy between soil and exposure creates a profile with great aromatic clarity.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting and careful selection of the Chardonnay bunches. The must ferments in French oak barrels, where the wine begins to develop its elegant character. Maturation continues for eleven months in the same barrels, resting on fine lees; frequent bâtonnage is carried out to enrich the breadth and texture of the palate. The process concludes with bottle ageing for twelve months, necessary to achieve the perfect fusion between the grape variety's character and its evolution in wood.
History and Curiosities
Jurosa by Lis Neris embodies the pure elegance of Chardonnay Friuli Isonzo DOC, originating from the prized gravelly plateau of San Lorenzo. Drawing on the winery's centuries-old tradition, this white wine enhances the richness of the terroir thanks to expert vinification in French oak barrels. The meticulous ageing on the lees with bâtonnage gives the palate an enveloping structure, enriched by elegant notes of tropical fruit and vanilla: a prestigious glass, awarded an excellent 95 points by Luca Maroni.
