Description
What kind of wine it is
Lis Neris Confini is a still white wine from Friuli Isonzo, produced in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The result of a meticulous blend of Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Riesling, it expresses intense aromas of peach, pineapple and lychee, intertwined with notes of white rose and sage. Vinification in French oak barrels defines a fresh palate with a full body, characterised by a pleasant roundness that culminates in a persistent finish with clear fruity echoes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the San Lorenzo area, on a plateau situated between the Slovenian border and the Isonzo river. The vineyards, rooted at sixty metres above sea level, are set in calcareous gravelly soils that impart a distinct gustatory tension to the wine. In this area, the climate favours a slow ripening of the grapes, resulting in balanced fruit with a rich aromatic profile, expertly crafted by Lis Neris, a winery active in the region since 1879.
How it is produced
Cultivated using the Guyot system, the vines ensure low yields to maximise aromatic concentration. After fermentation at a controlled temperature, the wine rests on the fine lees for eleven months with frequent bâtonnage, acquiring structure and complexity. Before release, the process concludes with a further seven months of ageing. The high quality expressed is confirmed by the notable scores awarded by James Suckling, Vinous and the Italian Sommelier Foundation.
