Description
What kind of wine it is
Le Vigne di Zamo Merlot is an organic still red wine that clearly expresses the character of the Friulian region. Made from Merlot grapes, it is dry, medium-bodied and characterised by enveloping aromas of wild berries. On the palate, it displays well-balanced tannins and a defined aromatic profile, offering a long and persistent finish. This harmonious glass is ideal for accompanying meat dishes, particularly pork, and cheese selections, enriching every convivial moment with great elegance.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in the areas of Manzano and Rosazzo. The vineyards are situated on a hilly strip along the Slovenian border, benefiting from Alpine currents to the north and a mild climate to the south, ideal for the perfect ripening of red grapes. The Le Vigne di Zamo winery cultivates its land with deep respect for the environment; through sustainable farming methods, the estate enhances the landscape while operating under a strict organic certification regime.
How it is produced
After destemming and crushing the bunches, fermentation in steel begins. During the ten to twelve days of this phase, punching down, délestage and pumping over are alternated to ensure optimal extraction of colour and aromas. Subsequently, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the acidic structure. The process concludes with a 12-month maturation in used wooden barrels, a technical choice that allows the Merlot's organoleptic profile to be integrated without ever overpowering its delicate varietal character.

The company is fortunate to draw from three different terroirs that give the wines different and unique characters and personalities. The Zamò family has been cultivating the land for centuries: first the grandfather, then the father and finally the sons, all united under the same goal: cultivating the land and making wine as a sign of civilisation and respect for their origins and traditions,
In addition to great white wines, including Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, the company focuses on red wines to maintain the indigenous grape varieties and to pursue new projects and innovations. For years, the Zamò family has been conducting cultivation with sustainability-conscious methods, and in 2021 they obtained the first Certified Organic grape harvest. Read more
