Description

What kind of wine is it

The Champagne Grande Cuvée Grand Siècle Brut by Laurent-Perrier is a refined blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. Crafted using the Traditional Method, this wine reveals an aromatic bouquet where citrus and white flower notes intertwine with hints of almond and pastry. On the palate, it is broad and structured, leading to a long, saline finish marked by pronounced minerality.

Where does it come from

This wine originates in the heart of Champagne, from grapes selected in the prestigious Grand Cru areas of Bouzy, Ambonnay, and Tours-sur-Marne. In this region, at the crossroads of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs, the Laurent-Perrier house is based. The combination of these diverse soils gives the wine a complex structure, enhanced by vibrant freshness and a distinct mineral character.

How is it produced

Production follows the bottle refermentation process characteristic of the Traditional Method, with ageing on the lees for at least ten years. This extended period of rest allows for the development of deep complexity and an extremely fine mousse. The Brut dosage defines a blend with a silky and lively texture, capable of releasing aromas of apricot, candied citrus, and hazelnut. Its pronounced savouriness makes it excellent for pairing with caviar, turbot, and dishes enhanced with truffle.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1812 in Tours-sur-Marne, Maison Laurent-Perrier boasts an invaluable heritage thanks to historic acquisitions in the terroirs of Bouzy and Ambonnay. The cuvée Grand Siècle N. 27, crafted by cellar master Michel Fauconnet, enhances this illustrious legacy. The result of blending three exceptional vintages and grapes from Grands Crus, it matures for ten years on the lees, achieving an elegance celebrated by international critics.

In 1881, when master cellarer Eugène Laurent inherited the Champagne Maison Alphonse Pierlot, he provided it with the essential foundations for the production of great champagnes, namely the houses and land to create a real estate. He bought vineyards in the best terroirs of Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay, dug 800 metres of cellars and created a tasting workshop.

This is how Domaine Laurent-Perrier was anchored in Tours-sur-Marne. This picturesque village is ideally situated at the crossroads of the three main wine-growing areas of the Marne département: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. It is also one of the 17 Champagne villages classified in the prestigious 'Grand Cru' area.
