Description

What kind of wine is it

La Spinetta Moscato Biancospino is a sweet organic white wine crafted by La Spinetta, a true expression of Moscato d’Asti. Made from Moscato Bianco grapes, it stands out for its delicate style, characterised by a well-balanced natural sweetness and a subtle effervescence. On the nose, it releases clear aromas of orange blossom, lemon and mandarin. The palate is enveloping, with hints of peach and apricot, finishing with a pleasant mineral streak in a long and clean finish. This wine is also suitable for those following a vegan diet.

Where does it come from

This Moscato d’Asti originates in Piedmont, between the towns of Coazzolo and Castagnole delle Lanze. The grapes come from old vineyards cultivated according to organic farming principles, situated at around three hundred metres above sea level with a privileged southern exposure. These conditions favour optimal ripening, defining the wine’s rich aromatic profile. The marl-limestone soils with sandy traces impart remarkable finesse, helping to shape the typical and refreshing mineral texture perceived on the palate.

How is it produced

The process involves fermentation in a pressurised tank at a controlled temperature, a technique that preserves the fruit’s fragrance while enhancing its floral and citrus notes. In the glass, it appears an intense yellow with lively greenish highlights, accompanied by a delicate effervescence. Tasting reveals a smooth sip, where sweetness is constantly balanced by freshness. It is excellent served as an elegant aperitif or paired with hazelnut desserts and creamy chocolate cakes.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1977 in Castagnole delle Lanze by the vision of Giuseppe Rivetti, the La Spinetta estate built its excellence starting precisely with Moscato. Biancospino is produced from prized old vines forty-five years of age, located between Coazzolo and Castagnole delle Lanze, cultivated with full respect for organic and sustainable agriculture. Under the guidance of oenologists Giorgio and Andrea Rivetti, this vegan-friendly label celebrates the authenticity of the Piedmontese territory, boasting a consistent quality widely recognised by international critics.

The Spinetta winery was founded by the Rivetti family, Argentinean emigrants who came to Italy with the dream of producing their wines. The winery's name derives from the place where the family settled, at la Spinetta (hilltop) in Castagnole Lanze, the production area of Moscato d'Asti, a light and fresh wine to be enjoyed with desserts. And it was precisely by realising the potential of this wine that the Rivetti family began producing the Moscato Biancospino and the Bricco Quaglia. The desire for growth of the Spinetta winery manifested itself in the production of a red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian, which was followed by others such as Barbaresco, Barbera d'Alba Gallina until 2000 when the well-known Barolo was produced. La Spinetta wines are the result of an intense study of the terroir, with a preference for indigenous varieties and a path that sees its greatest work in the vineyard, since to achieve great results most of the work must be done in the vineyard and the rest in the winery. The La Spinetta wines featured on Xtrawine are characterised by their balanced taste with bottles that have received important awards from: Bibenda, Gambero Rosso, Veronelli and AIS.. Xtrawine offers bottles from the best vintages of 2013 and 2014 made from varietals such as: Nebbiolo, Blend Rosso and Sangiovese. Read more
