Description

What kind of wine it is

La Spinetta Chardonnay Lidia is a still organic white wine made from the vinification of Chardonnay. An authentic expression of the Piedmontese territory, it displays a complex and balanced flavour profile. On the nose, it offers notes of apple, pear, pineapple, honey and almond. The palate reveals a pronounced mineral freshness, enriched by lively hints of citrus and white flowers that precede a marked savouriness. The elegant structure culminates in a long and creamy finish, making the glass ideal for an intriguing evolution over time.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in vineyards located in Mango, Piedmont, at around five hundred metres above sea level. This hillside position defines a style characterised by aromatic clarity, vibrant drive and a clear mineral imprint. The limited production fully enhances the connection with its place of origin. The project comes to life thanks to the dedication of La Spinetta, a winery always focused on soil care through a rigorous organic and sustainable approach.

How it is produced

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in used French oak barrels. The wine then matures for eighteen months in wood and is further refined for six months in the bottle, key steps in consolidating its flavour definition. Careful processing preserves a well-balanced acidic tension, keeping the fruit's energy intact. Served at a temperature of 10-12 °C, it enhances fish dishes, cheeses, poultry and vegetarian recipes. Its full-bodied sip also pairs masterfully with structured preparations, enhancing intense flavours such as rabbit liver or a classic Parmesan risotto.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1977, the estate La Spinetta produces the Lidia Chardonnay by making the most of vineyards located five hundred metres above sea level in Mango. Under the guidance of Giorgio and Andrea Rivetti, the wine matures for eighteen months in used French oak barrels, then completes its ageing in the bottle. This refined organic and sustainable production, proudly limited to just five thousand bottles, offers an exclusive Piemonte DOC that combines the winery's history with a deep respect for the land.

The Spinetta winery was founded by the Rivetti family, Argentinean emigrants who came to Italy with the dream of producing their wines. The winery's name derives from the place where the family settled, at la Spinetta (hilltop) in Castagnole Lanze, the production area of Moscato d'Asti, a light and fresh wine to be enjoyed with desserts. And it was precisely by realising the potential of this wine that the Rivetti family began producing the Moscato Biancospino and the Bricco Quaglia. The desire for growth of the Spinetta winery manifested itself in the production of a red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian, which was followed by others such as Barbaresco, Barbera d'Alba Gallina until 2000 when the well-known Barolo was produced. La Spinetta wines are the result of an intense study of the terroir, with a preference for indigenous varieties and a path that sees its greatest work in the vineyard, since to achieve great results most of the work must be done in the vineyard and the rest in the winery. The La Spinetta wines featured on Xtrawine are characterised by their balanced taste with bottles that have received important awards from: Bibenda, Gambero Rosso, Veronelli and AIS.. Xtrawine offers bottles from the best vintages of 2013 and 2014 made from varietals such as: Nebbiolo, Blend Rosso and Sangiovese. Read more
