Description
What kind of wine it is
Barbaresco Montestefano by La Ca’ Nova is a refined red wine from Piedmont, a pure expression of Nebbiolo grapes. Visually, it stands out for its intense garnet red hue, which can develop delicate orange reflections over time. The aromatic bouquet is complex, with clear notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices and leather, intertwined with subtle hints of undergrowth and liquorice. On the palate, it offers a full and harmonious sip, with a dry profile, supported by elegant and finely integrated tannins. The tasting experience concludes with a long mineral persistence, enhanced by enveloping notes of tobacco.
Where it comes from
This red wine is born in the renowned vineyards of the Montestefano subzone, within the municipality of Barbaresco. Its production reflects the deep connection with the Barbaresco area and the historic Cella Monte estate, located among the hills of Monferrato. The winery’s roots date back to the seventeenth century and still preserve the evocative Infernot, or hand-dug underground chambers in a particular local limestone marl known as Pietra da Cantoni. This unique territory gives Nebbiolo an unmistakable structure, endowing it with an ageing potential that can easily exceed a decade.
How it is produced
Made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, the wine undergoes a meticulous fermentation and ageing process in barrels to best express its natural elegance. To fully appreciate its organoleptic qualities, it is recommended to decant for about an hour, serving the wine at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees. Its solid tannic structure and broad body make it the ideal accompaniment for the rich regional cuisine. It pairs perfectly with classic Piedmontese agnolotti and impeccably enhances braised meats and game, also proving excellent alongside selections of mature cheeses.
