Description

Type of wine

The Kerner Puntscheit from Kellerei Bozen is a still white wine with the Alto Adige Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) designation. It is made from 100% Kerner grapes, with fermentation and ageing in stainless steel, and is distinguished by a dry, full, and intensely juicy style. The palate is driven by a lively acidity, accompanied by a pronounced freshness and a clear mineral imprint. On the palate, it offers a dynamic gustatory tension, making it ideal for pairing with light starters, asparagus-based dishes, and fresh goat's cheeses.

Origin

This mountain white wine originates from hillside vineyards located in the Isarco Valley and on the Renon plateau, linked to the specific Puntscheit parcel. The vines grow on steep, sun-exposed slopes at an altitude of between 600 and 800 metres above sea level. These particular geographical conditions, combined with very light gravelly and sandy soils, favour the development of extremely clear aromas and a well-defined acidic structure. The Alpine climate helps to enhance the dry and savoury profile, enriching the palate with pleasant mineral sensations.

How it is produced

The Kerner bunches are carefully selected in the vineyard before undergoing gentle pressing to extract a clean and fragrant must. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to keep the aromatic definition intact. Subsequently, ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks, a technical choice aimed at preserving the natural vibrancy of the fruit. The result is a wine with a straw-yellow colour and greenish reflections, expressing an intense olfactory profile in which peach, apricot, and delicate spicy hints reminiscent of nutmeg stand out.

History and trivia

The Puntscheit white wine celebrates the historic Kellerei Bozen winery, a symbol of excellence from Alto Adige founded in 1908. This wine, which takes its name from a prestigious parcel, is made from Kerner grapes, a cross between Trollinger and Riesling developed in Germany in 1930.

A winery of the highest quality standards, strong of a history that has its roots in 1908 and a particularly motivated entourage, supported by well three hundred and fifty hectares of vineyards, between 250 and 700 meters above sea level, where a long series of varieties thrive.

The high mineral content of the soils and old vines that have achieved an optimum growth balance, worked by limiting yields per vine, are the prerequisites that guarantee to the company wines their proverbial goodness and measure, but also longevity for those who will be able to wait for them. time in their own cellar.

The Cabernet Mumelter Reserve 2016 offers the most intense emotions, but the Lagrein Taber Reserve 2016 puts it close up.
