Description
What kind of wine it is
The Côte de Beaune Rouge by Joseph Drouhin is a still red wine, a true expression of Burgundy. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, it displays a deep ruby red colour. On the nose, it opens with pleasant aromas of wild berries and small violet flowers, framed by a clear mineral note. On the palate, it shows a balanced body, well-integrated acidity and silky tannins that bring harmony to the tasting experience. The tasting concludes with a long and persistent finish of great finesse.
Where it comes from
This wine is produced in France, within the renowned Côte de Beaune district. Joseph Drouhin's vineyards stretch across steep hills overlooking the town of the same name. The slope of the land encourages optimal ripening, giving the sip a vibrant and clear character. The hilly setting is clearly reflected in the glass, ensuring an excellent balance between structure and a marked freshness. The terroir thus offers an energetic expression of the grape variety, guaranteeing excellent persistence.
How it is produced
The care taken in the vineyard and winery ensures this red has a remarkable ageing potential, estimated between ten and fifteen years. To fully appreciate its aromatic profile, it is recommended to serve at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, ideally preceded by one hour of decanting. At the table, Côte de Beaune Rouge reveals great versatility, pairing perfectly with flavourful main courses based on rabbit, poultry, pork or game. Its liveliness also pairs ideally with cheeses and vegetarian dishes.

His son Maurice succeeded him and began to establish a vineyard domaine for the House, purchasing land in some outstanding appellations such as Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot.
Robert Drouhin, who succeeded Maurice in 1957, gave the domaine its present dimension, acquiring many vineyards, especially in Chablis where he was able to recognize the true potential. He was one of the first in Burgundy to introduce "culture raisonnée" (doing away with pesticides and other chemicals) and to build a laboratory of enology run by Laurence Jobard, the very first woman enologist in Burgundy.
Philippe, Véronique, Laurent and Frédéric are Robert and Françoise Drouhin's four children. They uphold the values of the House and its constant quest for quality, for the pleasure of all those who have a deep appreciation for the natural elegance of Burgundy. Read more
