Description
What kind of wine it is
Vinnae by Jermann is a still, savoury white wine that expresses the soul of Venezia Giulia. Its expertly balanced blend of Ribolla Gialla, Friulano and Riesling offers a dry and pleasantly fresh sip. It appears a bright straw yellow in the glass, while the nose releases fruity aromas accompanied by a distinct mineral character. The medium body and lively acidity are perfectly balanced thanks to six months of ageing, split between stainless steel tanks and Slavonian oak barrels, which give the wine an elegant and linear profile.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the hills of Villanova di Farra, in the heart of Venezia Giulia. The vineyards, optimally exposed between east and south, are rooted in marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, characterised by the typical flysch. This particular geological composition gives the wine a pronounced gustatory tension and a clear mineral streak. Jermann signs this wine while maintaining a strong connection to its territory: the double-headed eagle crest, inherited from an old family barrel, recalls the winery’s historic Austro-Hungarian roots.
How it is produced
The harvest, carried out in September, aims to preserve the aromatic integrity of the grapes. The vinification process is designed to maintain the primary freshness of the fruit, followed by a six-month maturation period divided between stainless steel tanks and Slavonian oak barrels. This technical choice allows the varietal liveliness to be combined with a balanced structure. The result is a wine with a dynamic and dry palate, characterised by a clean and refreshing finish that highlights the elegant fruity and mineral notes.
History and Curiosities
Vinnae celebrates the history of the Jermann family, founded in 1881, and its deep connection with the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. A particularly fascinating historical element is present on the wine's label: it depicts a double-headed eagle, a symbol found on an ancient barrel belonging to an ancestor, which pays homage to the family's Austro-Hungarian roots.
