Description
What kind of wine it is
This still white wine precisely captures the essence of its terroir. In the glass, it stands out for its brilliant golden straw colour, a prelude to an intense and pleasantly fruity bouquet, dominated by clear notes of melon. On the palate, it is dry, smooth and balanced, with a great persistence that accompanies the entire tasting. The acidity defines a clean and satisfying drink, reflecting the purity of the grape variety in the splendid setting of Venezia Giulia.
Where it comes from
The Pinot Bianco grapes are grown in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in Farra d’Isonzo, at the historic Jermann estate. The vineyards rest on soils composed of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, the typical ponca that characterises the Collio. This particular geology shapes the wine’s identity, while the south-west and north-east exposures favour a gradual and consistent ripening of the grapes, giving a perfect balance to the sensory profile.
How it is produced
Under the guidance of oenologist Luca Belluzzo, the Jermann method preserves the integrity of the aromas and the harmony of the palate, ensuring excellent ageing potential. Served chilled, this white is an excellent match for regional first courses, such as the classic pasta and beans. Its refined elegance also allows for harmonious pairings with seafood soups, shellfish, lean fish and a carefully selected range of cheeses.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1881, the Jermann winery encapsulates the essence of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in this Pinot Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT. The vines, tended by oenologist Luca Belluzzo, sink their roots into the typical Collio ponca, a unique subsoil of marl and sandstone that gives the wine its unmistakable elegance. Awarded 90 points by James Suckling, the 2024 vintage guarantees a longevity of 3-5 years. This excellent still white expresses the tradition of a historic estate, able to transform the richness of the terroir into a soft and harmonious sip.
