Description
What kind of wine is it
Lonsblau is a still red wine by Jermann, a true expression of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It falls under the Venezia Giulia denomination and is made from Pinot Noir grapes. On the palate, it displays an elegant, balanced and versatile style, with a measured structure and a precise flavour profile. This Pinot Noir is born from the rigorous selection of bunches from the vineyard of the same name, a choice aimed at enhancing the specific qualities of the variety and its natural territorial vocation.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from the Judrio valley, grown on the left bank of the watercourse. The bunches are harvested in the Lons vineyard, a single plot perfectly exposed to the west and planted for over a decade. The identity of the terroir is directly reflected in the name of the wine, combining the local place name with the word “Blau”, a term that pays homage to the blue violets and to Blauburgunder, the historic name linked to the original grape variety.
How is it produced
The production of Lonsblau is based on the transformation of grapes harvested in the Judrio valley, preserving the typical finesse of the variety. Jermann dedicates a specific vinification to these bunches, defining a structured profile, in perfect balance and with absolute precision. Its natural elegance and marked versatility make it ideal for accompanying tasty meat dishes and pork-based recipes. Moreover, its flavour notes pair harmoniously with mature cheeses, enhancing the bold flavours on the table.
History and Curiosities
The Jermann winery celebrates the region with an exceptional pure Pinot Noir from the Lons vineyard, beautifully west-facing in the Judrio valley. The name blends the local place name with the term “Blau”, in homage to the Blauburgunder grape and blue violets. This deep-rooted local identity shines through on the 2020 vintage label, which depicts the apse of a nearby little church adorned with blue floral motifs historically frescoed by Jacum Pitòr.
