Description
What kind of wine it is
Inama Campo del Lago Merlot is an organic still red wine that fully expresses the character of the Colli Berici. This elegant blend is created from the union of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, offering a classic and concentrated profile. On the palate, it presents a generous body and soft tannins, well balanced by a pleasant freshness. The aromatic profile opens with intense notes of undergrowth, plum and sweet spices, finishing with an enveloping finale characterised by elegant hints of cocoa and coffee.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Veneto, in the Colli Berici area, within the historic San Germano dei Berici estate. The old vines, over fifty years old, are rooted in silty-limestone soils situated between 200 and 250 metres above sea level. Thanks to an optimal south and south-east exposure, the grapes benefit from an ideal climate to achieve full ripeness. The Guyot and pergola training systems ensure low yields, resulting in the glass in an intense structure and a perfect balance between richness and freshness.
How it is produced
Production begins with a rigorous manual harvest, followed by destemming and fermentation for about 12 days in vertical vats. After pressing and a period in steel for malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in used French oak barrels, a deliberate choice to enhance the varietal aromas without overpowering the natural fruit. The process is completed with light filtration and no fining, thus preserving the deep ruby colour and the authentic nuances of wild berries and liquorice.
History and Curiosities
Campo del Lago has its origins in a historic label from the Colli Berici, created in the 1960s in Villa del Ferro by Alfredo Lazzarini. Inama has recently acquired these historic organic vineyards, which are over fifty years old, enhancing the natural vocation of the area for Bordeaux varieties. Celebrated by Luigi Veronelli as a wine with esoteric charm, comparable to the finest Pauillac, this elegant blend matures for twelve months in French barriques, offering a glass rich in history, intensity and refined smoothness.
