Description

What type of wine it is

House of Smith's Blossom Fury Riesling is a still white wine with a vibrant and semi-aromatic profile. This single-varietal Riesling comes from the Columbia Valley region in Washington State. On the palate, it stands out for its silky texture and vibrant acidity, well-balanced by a crystalline minerality. The aromatic profile reveals captivating notes of white peach, guava and lime leaf. The winemaking process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks and subsequent ageing on the fine lees, which enriches the smoothness of each sip while keeping the natural freshness of the grape variety intact.

Where it comes from

The grapes used for this Riesling come from the Evergreen Vineyard, located in the Ancient Lakes sub-zone of the Columbia Valley in Washington State. The vineyards, managed according to sustainable farming principles, enjoy a cool climate and overlook the cliffs above the Columbia River. The vines, approximately 26 years old, are rooted in complex soils composed of fragmented basalt, gravel, silt and caliche. This unique geological composition, originating from Ice Age floods, gives the wine a distinct mineral tension and a characteristic liveliness on the palate.

How it is produced

The production of Blossom Fury Riesling begins with whole-cluster pressing, which ensures the extraction of a pure must. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, using exclusively indigenous yeasts to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. The wine then matures on the fine lees, also in stainless steel, for a period of ten months. This step enriches the structure and smoothness of the wine, integrating perfectly with the natural acidity without altering the aromatic intensity typical of the variety.

History and interesting facts

Blossom Fury Riesling is a creation by the iconic Charles Smith for House of Smith, a tribute to the winemaking vocation of Washington State. The roots of the vines, twenty-six years old, run deep into the famous Evergreen Vineyard, a spectacular vineyard overlooking the majestic cliffs of the Columbia River. This territory boasts a fascinating geological history, literally shaped by the powerful Ice Age floods that deposited fragmented basalt. A winemaking jewel celebrated with ninety-one points by the prestigious critic James Suckling.
