Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Henriet-Bazin Hypolite Fût de Chêne is a Premier Cru Extra Brut that purely expresses the essence of Chardonnay. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it displays a straw yellow colour enlivened by bright golden highlights. The fine perlage precedes delicate floral and fruity aromas, elegantly interwoven with clear notes of yeast. On the palate, it is smooth, well-defined and boasts a long taste persistence, making it the ideal companion to enhance shellfish, sushi and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Villers-Marmery, a village classified as Premier Cru located in the prestigious Montagne de Reims. In this specific terroir, Champagne develops a distinctive character that fully enhances the agricultural vocation for Chardonnay. The Henriet-Bazin family has operated as an independent winegrower since 1890, personally overseeing every stage of work in the vineyard and cellar. The Hypolite cuvée is the result of a limited production, a rigorous choice aimed at highlighting the expressiveness of the original vineyards.
How it is produced
Vinification faithfully follows the timings and rules of the Traditional Method. A fundamental part of the ageing process takes place in oak barrels made from wood sourced from the nearby Villers-Marmery forest, a detail that gives the wine great structure. The subsequent prise de mousse requires a period on the lees of at least 36 months. This long ageing on the lees enriches the organoleptic profile, giving the sip a perfect structural balance between the elegant freshness of the fruit and the complexity of maturation.
History and Curiosities

His son Robert Henriet took over in 1830 and kept ont working. Driven by the enthusiasm for Champagne de Vignerons, he developed his clientele through fairs in Paris, Lille and Lyon.
In 1962 Daniel Henriet, grandson of the founder, was 16 years old when he decided to take over and study wine before joining his brothers on the family estate. A few years later he met Mademoiselle Micheline Bazin, daughter of winegrowers from Villers-Marmery whom he married in 1968. The union of their two families gave birth to Champagne Henriet-Bazin … I would not arrive until a few years later.
After spending my childhood in my father’s boots, I joined the house in 1991 and decided to keep all of my harvest for vinification.

And for over 15 years now, we have been listening to the whispers of nature and have come to understand it better. Abandonment of weedkillers, respect for insects, grassing of our vines, sowing of plants to replace fertilizers, work in harmony with the lunar cycles … Read more
