Description

Che tipo di distillato è

Hennessy is a French Cognac distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes, bottled at 40% ABV. Matured for at least twenty-four months in oak casks, it is crafted from a blend of up to forty eaux-de-vie. This spirit reveals an amber hue with vibrant coppery highlights. The sensory profile offers precise aromas of caramel, orange peel, and cinnamon, underpinned by gentle woody and spicy notes. It delivers a soft, rounded mouthfeel, culminating in a long finish defined by distinct hints of tropical fruit.

Da dove proviene

Originating in the Cognac region of south-west France, this spirit spans Charente, Charente-Maritime, and parts of Dordogne. The area is deeply associated with Ugni Blanc, a grape prized for its moderate sugar and reliable acidity, which yields an ideal base wine for distillation. Its character is enriched by fruit sourced from prestigious crus, including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois. Founded in 1765, Hennessy has been instrumental in establishing the global reputation of this historic French spirit.

Come viene prodotto

Ugni Blanc grapes undergo a gentle pressing to extract the base wine, followed by fermentation using selected yeasts at controlled temperatures. The double distillation process is completed by the end of March using traditional copper Charentais pot stills. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels, including specific casks that are over a century old, for a minimum of two years. The final spirit is meticulously crafted by blending multiple eaux-de-vie, with certain components matured for up to eight years to ensure a precise balance of fruit, spice, and oak.
