Description

What kind of wine it is

The Ecrál Carménère Gran Reserva Organic from Haras de Pirque is a still red wine and organic, expressing the authentic character of Chile. Made from Carménère grapes, it appears in the glass with a deep cherry colour and profound violet highlights. On the palate, it offers a solid structure, characterised by a smooth and fruity profile. Its gentle tannins blend with lively acidity, creating a harmonious balance of flavours. Ideal for pairing with spicy dishes and red meats, it delivers an elegant sip that finishes with a prolonged and defined persistence.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the Maipo Valley, located in the central region of Chile. The Haras de Pirque estate represents a winemaking project that combines deep knowledge of the South American territory with the international experience of the Antinori family. Cultivation follows the strict principles of organic farming, respecting the local ecosystem. The identity of this area translates into favourable climatic conditions for red grape varieties, allowing the grape to develop a distinct aromatic complexity and a well-defined structure.

How it is produced

The vinification of Ecrál Carménère Gran Reserva Organic includes a malolactic fermentation aimed at softening the texture of the sip. The subsequent maturation in oak barrels enriches the flavour profile while preserving the precision of the varietal aromas. The bouquet opens with intense aromas of plum, ripe cherry and blackcurrant, intertwined with hints of sweet fennel and tobacco leaf. On the palate, clear notes of white pepper and roasted coffee emerge, guiding the tasting towards a persistent and intense finish.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1992 in the Maipo Valley, the Haras de Pirque estate combines Chilean terroir with the excellence of the Marchesi Antinori. From this prestigious partnership comes an organic Carmenere of rare elegance: the Gran Reserva 2021. Carefully matured in oak barrels, the wine enhances the authenticity of the grape variety through a soft and complex structure, capable of evolving in the cellar for over a decade. Praised by leading international critics with excellent scores, this red offers a memorable tasting experience.

Haras de Pirque is a unique estate located in the northern part of Chile's Maipo Valley, known for producing high-quality wines.

The collaboration between Haras de Pirque, a producer of excellence in the area, and Marchesi Antinori stems from the desire to 'explore' the potential of Chile. The wine that has become a symbol of the union between the two wine producers is Albis, the fruit of an international grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carmenere, the Chilean grape par excellence.

Furthermore, the conviction that the Andean wine-growing area of Chile represents a natural habitat for Sauvignon led Marchesi Antinori to start a specific project to produce this extraordinary variety, resulting in the Albaclara wine.
