Description

What kind of wine it is

Gulfi Neromaccarj is an organic red wine that expresses the pure character of Nero d’Avola. In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby red colour, enriched by vibrant violet highlights. The aromatic bouquet is distinguished by notes of red fruit and blackberry, nuanced with hints of vanilla. On the palate, it offers a full and fruity sip, supported by a great structure that ensures persistence and an excellent aptitude for ageing.

Where it comes from

This Terre Siciliane originates in the landscapes of south-eastern Sicily, between the municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi and the Val di Noto, particularly in the area of Pachino. The vineyards are situated about thirty metres above sea level, immersed in a temperate-warm Mediterranean climate. The presence of calcareous-clay soils profoundly influences the wine’s profile, enhancing its clear aromatic intensity and defining its authentic territorial identity.

How it is produced

The grapes are harvested during the second half of September. The red vinification involves fermentation accompanied by a long maceration on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in small oak barrels for about two years. A final period of refinement in the bottle of at least one year allows the organoleptic profile to stabilise and harmoniously integrate the lively fruity notes with the evolved aromas acquired in the wood.

History and Curiosities

Born from the vision of oenologist Salvo Foti, Gulfi Neromaccarj 2019 expresses the authentic essence of the calcareous-clay soils of the Val di Noto. This elegant organic Nero d’Avola, aged for two years in oak barrels and one year in bottle, offers a structured and persistent sip, enriched by enveloping notes of blackberry and vanilla. The result of vines over 35 years old cultivated in Pachino, this fine Terre Siciliane IGT stands out for its long maceration on the skins and boasts 93 points from James Suckling, delivering an experience of profound complexity.
