Description
What type of wine it is
Morellino di Scansano Santa Maria by Frescobaldi is a still red wine that embodies the authenticity of Tuscany. This balanced blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified in stainless steel, presents in the glass with a vivid, bright ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of plum and cherries in alcohol, enriched by notes of pepper and sweet spices. The palate is dry, warm and smooth, enhanced by a fine tannic texture and a vibrant freshness that accompany a harmonious and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Morellino di Scansano area, located in Maremma. Frescobaldi's vineyards grow at altitudes between one hundred and fifty and five hundred metres, characterised by a mild Mediterranean climate. Constant sun exposure promotes uniform ripening, keeping the aromatic clarity intact. These ideal Tuscan territorial conditions impart a defined character to the wine, balancing the fruity richness with a marked acidic tension and an elegant structure.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a careful selection of the grapes. Fermentation takes place inside stainless steel tanks, a choice made to preserve the freshness of the fruit and exclude aromatic interference from wood. The wine then matures through ten months of ageing in stainless steel, necessary to stabilise the taste structure. A final rest of two months in the bottle harmonises its aromas and makes the tannins softer. The result is a red with clear aromatic precision, ideal when served at eighteen degrees.
