Description

What type of wine it is

La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino by Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari is a Tuscan red wine of great depth, a pure expression of Sangiovese grapes grown in the Montalcino territory. This Brunello di Montalcino expresses a warm and profound style, characterised by firm and velvety tannins and a texture of great balance. Its significant structure ensures excellent capacity for evolution over time. The aromatic profile ranges from intense notes of red fruits, forest floor and dried flowers, enriched by hints of leather, incense and cocoa, closing with elegant spiced and balsamic notes on the palate.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in Montalcino, in the vineyards of the La Fuga estate located on the historic Camigliano slope. This area, north-west of Mount Amiata and close to the Val d’Orcia, benefits from optimal south-west exposure towards the coast. The clayey and stony soils, located at 350 metres above sea level, give the wine vigour and a clear taste precision. The mild climate is cooled by a pleasant sea breeze that encourages harmonious ripening of the bunches, highlighting the unique link between the grape variety and the environment in which Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari operate.

How it is produced

The harvest takes place in October, selecting only the fruit that has reached full maturity. Vinification includes maceration on the skins for about fifteen days, which is fundamental for optimal extraction. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, a technical choice aimed at preserving the quality of the tannic texture. The maturation process lasts four years in total, with a stay of at least 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks. The cycle concludes with bottle ageing for at least twelve months, offering an enveloping sip, supported by a juicy acidity and a very long-lasting finish.

History and interesting facts

Tenuta La Fuga’s Brunello di Montalcino DOCG celebrates the Folonari family’s centuries-old mastery. It is produced from fine Sangiovese grapes grown on the historic Camigliano slope, constantly caressed by the gentle sea breeze.
