Description
What kind of wine it is
Mamarì by Cantine Fina is a still white wine that masterfully interprets the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety, enhancing its youthful and lively character. On the nose, it opens with distinct vegetal aromas of green pepper, tomato leaf and freshly cut grass, then evolves towards notes of pineapple and banana, enriched by hints of elderflower and hawthorn. On the palate, it is smooth, fresh and savoury, characterised by a light body that ensures excellent drinkability with a pleasantly herbaceous finish. Served chilled, it is the ideal choice to accompany raw seafood, sushi and carpaccio, as well as enhancing white meats, aromatic dishes and vegetarian cuisine.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in western Sicily, in the province of Trapani, within the territory of Terre Siciliane. The vines take root in high hillside vineyards, situated between 550 and 600 metres above sea level. This altitude ensures optimal temperature variations to preserve natural acidity and aromatic clarity. The Guyot-trained espalier system, combined with careful vineyard management, allows for a consistent and controlled yield. The interaction between this terroir and the characteristics of the vine gives rise to a wine with a distinct territorial identity.
How it is produced
The production process begins in August, the ideal time for harvesting these vines. To protect the integrity of the aromas and the vibrancy of the fruit, the entire fermentation process takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The subsequent ageing period also continues in the same tanks, an oenological approach that excludes the use of barrels to maintain the pure varietal profile. Before being released on the market, the wine benefits from a six-month rest in the bottle, a crucial step to harmonise all the taste components. If stored correctly, it shows excellent ageing potential over time.
History and Curiosities
Sauvignon Blanc has thrived in Sicily since the mid-1990s, finding one of its highest expressions in Mamarì Terre Siciliane IGP. Cantine Fina, led since 2005 by oenologists Bruno and Sergio Fina, cultivates its vineyards in the Trapani area at an altitude of 550-600 metres. The high altitude helps to preserve a vibrant freshness, confirming that slopes above 400 metres deliver the best results. The 2025 vintage offers an authentic Sicilian interpretation of the grape variety, skilfully enhancing the fascinating nuances of this terroir.
