Description
What kind of wine it is
The Taurasi by Feudi di San Gregorio is a still red wine that fully expresses the intensity of Aglianico. To the eye, it reveals a brilliant ruby red colour with elegant garnet highlights. The bouquet offers fragrant notes of morello cherry and black cherry, intertwined with spicy hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and anise. On the palate, it is full and balanced, supported by sweet, soft tannins that ensure excellent aromatic persistence, making it ideal for pairing with roast red meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Campanian red originates from the vineyards of Sorbo Serpico, in the heart of the Taurasi area. The terroir is characterised by volcanic soils and a climate that encourages significant temperature variations, key elements for enriching the aromatic bouquet. The use of Aglianico grapes grown in this area gives the wine a remarkable propensity for ageing. The careful enhancement of the territory is reflected in a style that combines consistent intensity with excellent structural balance.
How it is produced
The vinification of Aglianico involves fermentation and maceration in steel for about three or four weeks, encouraging the extraction of colour and tannic structure. Subsequently, the wine matures for eighteen months in medium-toasted French oak barrels, a fundamental stage for integrating the spicy notes. The process concludes with a final ageing of at least nine months, essential for stabilising its organoleptic profile before tasting.
