Description

What kind of wine it is

Fattoria Nannì Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Origini Riserva is an organic white wine that remains true to the identity of Verdicchio. Elegant and structured, it rests on a savoury acidity that makes it smooth and lively to drink. The rich bouquet offers aromas of elderflower, almond and yellow fruit, combined with hints of sage and mint. As it evolves, the aromatic profile is enriched with notes of preserved fruit, lemon zest, saffron and chamomile. The palate finishes with a harmonious and typically slightly bitter aftertaste, ideal for pairing with grilled fish, seafood and Mediterranean recipes.

Where it comes from

This white wine originates in the Marche region, at the heart of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva. The vineyards of Fattoria Nannì are located at four hundred and twenty metres above sea level in the municipality of Apiro. The roots of the old vines, over forty years old, delve into alluvial soil shaped by debris from Monte San Vicino. The naturally low yields ensure excellent aromatic concentration, conveying the authentic identity of the territory into the glass. This specific terroir gives the wine a pronounced minerality and a solid structural balance.

How it is produced

Production begins with a rigorous harvest by hand into crates between late September and October. The whole bunches are cooled in a cold room to preserve their aromatic profile, then undergo gentle pressing in the absence of oxygen. After fermentation, a long ageing on fine lees for twelve months defines the wine’s texture and complexity. A final ageing period of six months completes the sensory profile, resulting in a deep, fresh wine with excellent persistence.

History and Curiosities

Origini is a dream brought to life, celebrating the bond between Fattoria Nannì and Monte San Vicino, which is at the origin of the estate’s precious alluvial soil. This masterpiece is born from old vines of 58 years, whose grapes are pressed whole in the absence of oxygen to preserve their natural essence. The patient ageing on fine lees for twelve months, followed by six months of rest in the bottle, shapes a Verdicchio of superb elegance. The 2023 vintage was awarded the Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso among a production of 40,000 bottles.

Our farm is in Arsicci (Apiro, Macerata), in the heart of the Marche region. Roberto Cantori, its founder, strongly believes that being from the Marche region and being born into a world in a telluric and romantic way at the same time, is a destiny:

"Where I come from there is a mountain that protects the valley and the castles around it. It’s nice to have a little peak in the distance, sharply peaked on one side, a crooked turtle dome, and acting as your beacon when you don’t have the sea. It’s called Monte San Vicino and it also looks beautiful over a large vineyard, and guards it, in the Apiro countryside. From this vineyard was born the wine of the young Fattoria Nannì, all painted by Nina, a green balcony to a lighthouse that is shaped like a rock, and that has been telling us since we were little what the weather will be, what colour the sky will be, all that you can see and not see, and which way you will find the moon." (Roberto Cantori)
