Description
What kind of wine it is
Bansionensi Brut Nature is a Champagne Blanc de Noirs with an essential profile by Eric Taillet, crafted according to the Traditional Method. It stands out for its fine and persistent perlage, offering clear fruity aromas on the nose, enriched with citrus notes and tropical hints. On the palate, it reveals a distinctly fresh and savoury character, providing an authentic experience thanks to the absence of dosage, which fully enhances the character of Pinot Meunier.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in Baslieux-sous-Châtillon, in the Marne Valley, a prime terroir for Champagne. The grapes come from old vines cultivated with an organic and sustainable approach, essential for achieving a high aromatic concentration. The area is characterised by marly soils with clay and sandy components, a geological matrix that imparts a distinctive saline texture and marked clarity to the glass.
How it is produced
Vinification follows the rules of the Traditional Method to preserve the purity of the grape variety. The wine rests in oak barrels for about nine months, gaining structure and complexity while maintaining great drinkability. This is followed by a long ageing on the lees for forty-eight months, essential for defining its depth of flavour. The decision to offer the wine as Brut Nature, completely without dosage, enhances the dry profile of Pinot Meunier and ensures a precise and linear finish.
History and Curiosities
The 2020 vintage of Bansionensi Brut Nature by Eric Taillet expresses all the authenticity of the Marne Valley. This refined Blanc de Meunier is produced from old vines aged 43 years cultivated using organic methods on marl soils. The process follows the traditional method, with vinification in oak barrels and ageing on the lees for 48 months. With no dosage, this cuvée, awarded 93 points by James Suckling, reveals an elegant pure Pinot Meunier that combines extreme freshness, savouriness and tropical aromas.
