Description
What kind of wine it is
Elena Walch Müller Thurgau is a still white wine with a straw yellow colour, capable of expressing a pronounced territorial identity. Produced by Elena Walch, this wine enhances the characteristics of Müller Thurgau, an aromatic grape variety that offers a fragrant and well-defined bouquet. The aromatic profile opens with pleasant notes of white-fleshed fruit, accompanied by hints of aromatic herbs, nutmeg and touches of apricot. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral, offering a light body and a lively savoury-fruity texture that makes it balanced and extremely enjoyable with every sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in the splendid territory of Trentino-Alto Adige, within the evocative area of the Vineyards of the Dolomites. The vineyards, located on hillsides between the areas of Termeno and Caldaro at altitudes between 350 and 650 metres, benefit from ideal south-east and south-west exposures. The limestone soils, enriched with clay veins and a sandy subsoil, provide the perfect environment to impart the wine with its characteristic and vibrant mineral imprint.
How it is produced
In the winery, careful procedures are followed to preserve the integrity of the fruit, starting with a rigorous manual harvest of the bunches. After destemming and gentle pressing, the must undergoes static clarification before alcoholic fermentation begins. This phase takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The process concludes with ageing on its own lees, always in steel, a technique essential to enhance and maintain the elegant aromatic freshness intact.
History and Curiosities
Produced in South Tyrol, the Elena Walch Müller Thurgau from the Selezione range fully expresses the authentic vocation of the Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT region. Since 1988, this renowned family-run winery has cultivated selected grapes on the hills between Termeno and Caldaro, enhancing the limestone soils that give the wine a splendid minerality. The meticulous hand harvesting and expert ageing on the lees in steel preserve its lively freshness, releasing with great elegance the hints of nutmeg and apricot that enrich the 2023 vintage.
