Description
What kind of wine it is
The Alto Adige Pinot Noir by Elena Walch is a still red wine that expresses the authenticity of the grape variety with a savoury and well-defined sip. In the glass, it shines with a ruby colour, revealing aromas of small red fruits, cherry and raspberry, with a hint of white pepper. On the palate, it displays a firm structure and delicate tannins, finishing with a fresh and clean aftertaste. The production involves fermentation in steel tanks and maturation divided between steel and large oak barrels.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Alto Adige from a mosaic of vineyards situated between 400 and 950 metres above sea level. The south-east and south-west exposures favour consistent ripening, while the meeting of the Mediterranean climate and the cool currents from the Dolomites creates an ideal balance. The vines grow on limestone soils with porphyry veins, a geological composition essential for giving the wine a distinct savouriness and a unique gustatory dynamism.
How it is produced
The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-selected and macerated on the skins for about ten days. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by natural malolactic conversion. Maturation is divided between steel and large oak barrels, a choice aimed at preserving the fragrant varietal aromas without overpowering the freshness of the fruit. The process ends with a final period of rest, essential for achieving a harmonious gustatory balance.
